Aqilah Elshabazz Pope – Womens mobility specialist
Hey there! My name is Aqilah, your dedicated fitness and wellness coach. From an early age, I was always passionate about fitness and nutrition. But, like many of us, I developed unhealthy fitness habits during my years as an athlete. From injuries to unhealthy relationships with food, I experienced it all, but I always knew something was missing. The excessive “No pain No gain” mindset simply didn’t seem sustainable. This led me to pursue a degree in Health and Exercise Science and eventually a career as a personal trainer.
As a former Sanda (Chinese kickboxing) champion and martial artist, I love to bring the mindfulness, breath work, and discipline-forming techniques I learned into sessions with my clients. This allows them to form better mind-muscle connections during their sessions, reduces their likelihood of injury, and allows them to have sustainable and long-term results that serve them during and after their time with me.
Whether you’re starting your fitness journey or getting back into things, I’m confident I can help you reach your goals. I am passionate about helping busy 35+-year-old women make time for their health and wellness. In our sessions, we’ll work on developing sustainable nutrition habits, improving your mobility and flexibility, and improving your cardiovascular and muscular endurance.
To help you reach your goals, I offer 1-on-1, semi-private, and online coaching for my clients.
I am dedicated to helping you be here for a good time and a long time. I hope to see you soon!
CATIA ASSIS – Personal Trainer in Del Mar
Hi, I’m Catia Assis, and I’ve been passionate about fitness for over 20 years. Originally from Brazil, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and became a certified personal trainer throughout NASM . I’ve had the pleasure of working with a wide range of clients, helping them achieve goals like weight loss, building lean muscle, learning proper form and technique, and even recovering faster after injuries.
I moved to the U.S. in 2016, but my fitness journey didn’t begin until I could improve my English. Portuguese is my first language! In 2018, I started working at The Bxng Club as a Tier 1 trainer and worked my way up to Tier 4, the highest level. In 2020, I was honored to be named Personal Trainer of the Year across all three locations of the club, a recognition that means so much to me. I’m grateful for the six years I spent there, working closely with clients one-on-one and leading high energy HIIT group classes, which allowed me to grow both personally and professionally.
What I love most about my job is seeing the progress my clients make, not just physically but in how they feel about themselves. I take pride in creating personalized, supportive programs that make my clients feel empowered and confident in their fitness journey. Whether you’re aiming to lose weight, build muscle, or improve your overall wellness, I’m here to guide you every step of the way with care, motivation, and a little fun along the way!

Emely Gonzalez – Womens Pre/Post Natal Trainer & Health Coach
Hola mi gente, me llamo Emely. I believe that living a healthy life is an absolute privilege. However, it has not always been easy for me. Women, we have to work a little bit harder in everything that we do, but I am here to tell you that it is possible! You want to lose 10 pounds? You want to build a booty? You want to build more muscle? Let’s do it! Whatever your goals are, I will help you reach them. I have been overweight, have had an awful relationship with food, my hormones have been out of balance, I have dealt with anxiety and depression, the list goes on. However, I am here to show you that goals are not impossible.
I am a NASM certified personal trainer and I have a Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, Community Health Education from California State University, Long Beach. ¡Y entreno en español también!
My fitness journey started at a very young age when I began playing sports. I really fell in love with soccer. It was playing soccer in college where I was first introduced to lifting weights. Although my college career was short lived due to injuries, it led me to find my passion and love for strength training. Lifting weights has transformed my life, in ways I never thought possible. Not only have I gained physical strength, I have found resilience, dedication, and a love for food.
I LOVE eating; my favorite foods consist of fish tacos, pasta, sushi, enchiladas, y tamales. I grew up in an immigrant Mexican household with delicious flavors and spices. Are these foods always healthy, no, but that does not mean that I eliminate all of these foods from my diet. Instead, I focus on mindful eating. I have spent numerous hours finding clean and quality foods and substitutes that are delicious and fuel my body. I will teach you how to make simple substitutions and additions to your food so that you never feel as if the foods of your culture and childhood are what holds you back from your dream body and life. I love food and I want you to love it too.
As a personal trainer, I specialize in women’s training, functional strength training, mobility, endurance training, sports training, conditioning, nutrition and overall health improvement. I will train your body to be strong, resilient, and help you reach your physique goals; as a Health Coach. When training with me, I will make sure you understand the importance of having a healthy quality of life. I provide personalized workouts and health guidance; I will push you and motivate you daily. Whatever your goals are, we can reach them together!
Emiko Jaffe – Personal Trainer for Active Women over 50
If you’re looking for a female personal trainer who really understands what it means to be Midlife Fit, you’ve found her. I know how important it is to get stronger (while protecting old injuries and preventing new ones), increase stamina (without workouts that leave you feeling sore and exhausted), move with more suppleness (while relieving aches and stiffness), and express on the outside the youthful, vibrant version of YOU that you feel on the inside.
Personal training for Menopausal women
As our bodies and life priorities change in midlife, exercise is no longer a “nice to have”– it’s a necessity to delay–and even reverse–the negative effects of aging which include bone, muscle and strength loss. But one-size-fits-all “busy work” workouts won’t cut it for us when it comes to maintaining and improving our health and fitness. Nope! For that, you need a thoughtfully and strategically designed program, ideally, tailor-made just for you with nutritional, sleep and stress management support.
Personal training for perimenopausal women
Perimenopause can bring a myriad of physical and emotional changes, making it crucial to have a fitness regimen that adapts to your body’s fluctuating needs. My approach focuses on increasing your physical capacity to enjoy your favorite activities, managing stress, and maintaining energy levels so you can stop relying on that second (or fifth!) cup of coffee to get over those mid-afternoon slumps. With smart programming created just for you and supportive coaching, I help you navigate this transitional phase with confidence and vitality.

Shane Dempsey – Adult/Athlete High Performance Training
Having been an athlete all my life, I was always drawn to the weight room and strength and conditioning environments. Fast forward through my early 20s, 3 separate low back injuries requiring pain killers and muscle relaxers to remediate, non-progress in the weight room and I was looking for answers. Enter me hiring my first coach and embarking on my fitness journey. after 3+ years of coaching and testing things on myself; I move differently, look differently and overall FEEL differently. The only way I was able to do this was conscript mentors who pushed me to new heights. Even though you probably don’t want to be a fitness industry worker, my goal for each of my clients is to bring the energy, passion and enthusiasm of the coach that I wish I had when I was younger, and was fortunate enough to have later in life.
So, what exactly is human/athlete high performance training? It is a comprehensive, physiology driven training plan designed to teach you HOW to move through the main movement patterns to start. This doesn’t mean we won’t push intensity and you won’t feel a stimulus in early sections, but exercise selection will be driven through the lens of “How do I get X to master the squat/hinge/lunge/push/pull?”. Everything builds off of this, whether you are a baseball player looking to improve exit velo, a former collegiate athlete looking to get back into (or exceed) the fitness capacity you had in college or a Mom of 3 looking for efficient workouts in a busy schedule, my aim is to meet you where you are at, set concrete goals based on what you want to achieve and then I figure out the roadmap from there. I incorporate general strength training, plyometrics, mobility drills, energy systems (cardio) development, and safe power development (this stays important regardless of age) to name a few. I analyze the situation at hand, and look through my toolbox to find the right tool for the job.
A little bit more about me – I started my Strength and Conditioning career at Dartmouth College interning in the varsity weight room while acting as Director of High Performance and interim Head Coach for the Men’s rugby team. From there I moved down to Boston to work at Flight Performance and Fitness, where I had the incredible pleasure to learn from 2 of the best mentors on the east coast while working with clients/athletes ranging from 11 YOs playing hockey, D1 Baseball players, USA Rugby and Hockey national team players, 50 year old dads and 78 year olds just trying to move well. In that time I acquired my NSCA – CSCS and CPT while amassing over 10,000 hours of coaching and floor time. This experience has proved invaluable in giving me a unique lens to look at human movement, address issues and maximize strengths.
All of this to say, the principles I operate on stay the same:
1. Meet the client where they are at and look to establish foundational movement skills or build upon an already solid foundation. This approach creates strength and resiliency through all of the movement patterns in a sound, pain free way.
2. They don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care.
–> My aim is not to bore you with scientific knowledge or wow you with information about glycolytic energy pathways (if you want to go down the rabbit hole I am MORE than happy to oblige), but in reality it is to help you see the fitness industry and the way you move differently. High touch point relationships will be built, in these I will look to understand what makes you tick, what your schedule and stressors are like and how I can be of best service to you in creating the most robust and resilient human possible.
3. Not just talking the talk, but walking the walk – Just about ANYTHING I program to a client (there are very few exceptions to this) I have tested or done myself. This allows me to relate to the feelings and sensations that movements and different types of energy system programming can have on the individual.
4. Big rocks first, then we can major in the minors – I aim to help you NAIL the big rocks of fitness, nutrition, and some holistic health tools. After we have mastered the basics of consistency, adherence, protein consumption and some breathwork tools then we will take a deeper dive into more nuanced conversations. In my experience I have found the majority of people can clean up their gym, nutrition and overall well being by just nailing the fundamentals of high performance.
I am also a certified Nutrition Coach through Dr. Layne Norton’s “BioLayne” nutrition course. He is evidenced based and research focused – Nutrition coaching with me is about mastering the big rocks of protein intake, nutrient balance, sleep and hydration.
If you are looking not just for a training experience but for skills, tools and knowledge to guide your decision making in the realms of fitness + nutrition, shoot me a message and let’s see if we’re a good fit together.
